  • A single-family house together with a light-industrial factory shared the same plot of land since the family owns the factory. Thanasab HQ represents two main different functions which are 2-storey house and a silk-screen factory. Because of the site is surrounded by many houses and villages which is bounded by variation of neighborhood, higher level of privacy between house, factory, and surroundings is considered, both in-site privacy and avoid intervening others privacy.

The house is designed to support 4 members family: parents, a son, and a daughter. The initial design is mainly focused on overall basic functions with high level of isolation from habitats. For an interior space within the area of approximately 315 square meters, the first-floor layout is more flexible than the upper floor in term of usage. It is designed as an opened plan with a mixed use of living, relaxing, and socializing, as well as an outdoor swimming pool which connects with this living space. The second-floor layout is arranged to keep each members’ privacy by leveling up the floor into 2 split-levels: the first for son’s bedroom and sanctuary room at the front part of the house, while the second level for parents’, daughter’s bedroom, and music room.

The factory is designed upon the highest efficiency on functional and practical usage. Within owner’s requirements in 552 square meters construction area, it is divided into three segments: manufacturing, stocking, and building up business. Since there is a silk screen factory, the owner comes up with an idea of a way to make more profit together with promote and value up their merchandise, a café is appended. With multi-function of the building, separation of each circulation route is needed. There are 3 access for 3 users which are a front staircase entrance for cafe customers, a side entrance for employees at the factory, and an extra interconnected route directly from the house to the factory for owners. Conference room act as a connected space between café and the office, as it is sometimes adjusted as a co-working space for café.

The overall functions create a massing design of leveling and interlocking in order to keep its privacy. An appearance of Thanasab HQ, both house and factory, is designed to unite all the style and pattern together. Because of the limited space, the buildings are created in bright colour which are white, grey, black, and brown from wood. Furthermore, there are another 2-texture material of the factory which are clip-lock metal sheet wall cladding and perforated aluminum sheet for café facade. The front facade of café creates a variation of light from inside through outside as an attracted spot for welcoming customers.
