  • The site is located on the Northern part of Thailand, approximately 1,200 meters above sea level. An outback terrain area has no electricity, water supply, or even other buildings nearby. There is only an agricultural space for native.

    Concept of this house is to live without public electricity and water but with the house itself sustainable. In order to create a “green” architecture, simple functions with clear design and easy to construct are the main point to design this villa, yet it still comfortable because of tropical-design was added into the process. Double wall and concrete roof with wood trellis above help reduce heat from natural sunlight. Cantilever roof also protect hard raining and hailstone in rainy season. Clear glass window allows natural wind ventilation, no need to use air-condition. Reinforced concrete roof was design to use as a mini reservoir in order to collecting rain water.

    The house was also built by using local materials integrated “small vernacular” with “modern style”, such as wood and bamboo which can easily find within this area. Moreover, diesel generator and solar panels were installed for producing electricity, while collecting rain and water from mountain are used for water supply.
